I have just seen "Old Dog" at the Carpenter Center at Harvard University. Pema Tseden was in attendance and answered questions. The film is everything you say it is. I was overwhelmed by its power and simple elegance. One of its greatest advantages is its lack of music, a refusal to manipulate the audience’s emotions at any given moment. The sound effects are enough, and brilliantly chosen. For me, aside from the wrenching concluding "event" and the larger political implications of much of the film, I found most moving the confrontation of father and son in the Police Station, facing (...)
